Welcome to Chatopia. These terms are the agreement between you and Ryan Creates ("we", "us"), the independent developer behind Chatopia, about your use of the Chatopia app and website. By creating an account or using Chatopia you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Chatopia.
Who can use Chatopia
- You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for using a service like this, you must meet that age.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up, including your date of birth, and keep your account details up to date.
- You must not have been banned from Chatopia before.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for what happens on it. Keep your password private, use a strong one, and tell us if you think someone else has access. You can see and end your sign-ins in Settings > Password and security. One person should have one account, and accounts cannot be sold or transferred.
What you post
You own what you create and post on Chatopia. By posting, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute your content inside Chatopia so the service can work, for example showing your post to other members and in Discover. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others have already interacted with it in ways that cannot reasonably be undone, such as a comment replying to it.
You are responsible for your content. Only post things you have the right to share, and do not post anything that breaks the rules below.
Community rules
Chatopia is for people to share what they love. Please do not:
- harass, bully, threaten, or target people because of who they are, including their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality;
- post sexual content involving anyone under 18 (we report this to the authorities), or sexually explicit material, graphic violence or content that glorifies self-harm;
- post illegal content, or encourage or help anyone to break the law;
- pretend to be someone else, or mislead people about who you are;
- spam, run scams, or post repeated, deceptive or unwanted promotions;
- share other people's private information without their permission;
- post content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- upload viruses or try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer Chatopia, or access other people's accounts or data;
- create accounts to get around a ban or a limit we have set.
What we may do
We may remove content, limit features, suspend or end accounts, or take other action if we believe these terms have been broken, if the law requires it, or to protect Chatopia and its members. Where we can, we will tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, tell us through Settings > Send feedback and we will take another look.
Chatopia and its brand
The Chatopia app, website, name and logo belong to us. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable permission to use the app while you follow these terms. This does not give you any ownership of Chatopia or the right to copy it, sell it, or use our name or logo without our written permission.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Chatopia without paying you or crediting you.
The service as it is
We work hard to keep Chatopia running well, but it is provided "as is" and "as available", without promises that it will always work, be free of errors, or keep your content forever. Features may change, and we may add, remove or pause parts of the service. Please keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Limits on our responsibility
Members are responsible for what they post, and we do not check everything that is shared. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for what other members say or do, or for indirect or consequential losses from using Chatopia. Our total responsibility to you for any claim relating to Chatopia is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which for a free service is zero. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited, or liability that cannot be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop using Chatopia at any time. To close your account, open Settings > Send feedback and choose "Delete my account". We may end or suspend your access as described above. Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends, such as the content licence for content others have interacted with, ownership, and limits on responsibility, will continue.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Chatopia grows. If we make important changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Chatopia after that, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malawi, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Malawi, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to court elsewhere.
